Bespoke Framing is a “catch all” term for the framing that I do. Everything I frame at Pure Framing has a custom frame, handmade specifically for that individual item. All the components are made to measure for that particular job. Bespoke framing can range from a straightforward mounted picture in a handmade frame, to complex, customised framing that will give you something unique.
Pure Framing customers have brought in a diversity of items for 3D Framing over the years from medals to favourite teddy bears. I am never sure what will come in next and each project is given the individual attention it deserves. With every 3D framing project, the overriding principle always applies – “how can I secure this object in a way that is reversible and uses materials that will not harm or alter the object in the longer term”.
Whether you have a rolled canvas that you need to have stretched, or a painting, print or photo already stretched and you would like to have it framed, I can do this for you at Pure Framing. This service also covers artwork on board (e.g. Oil on board or Acrylic on board) that you would like to have framed. I regularly work with artists for canvas stretching & framing of their artwork.
Conservation Framing is for artwork of personal, sentimental, historical or financial value. When framing to conservation or museum level, the materials and techniques used in the framing are designed to preserve the condition of the artwork and allow its future removal in a condition that is as close as possible to its original condition. I have framed the work of many notable and collectable artists.
Sometimes the existing frame on a picture is an old favourite, it has an historic context that goes with the picture, or it only has minor damage so it seems worth saving rather than replacing. From a simple re-glaze to more dramatic repair and restoration work, if I feel it is within my skill set and it would be worthwhile for you in terms of cost to value, I will always try to help out.
There is no doubt that there are a fantastic array of pre-finished mouldings available in all sorts of shapes, profiles, colours, finishes and sizes. However, many Pure Framing customers are looking for something unique and want complete control over these elements. They can choose from scratch, and design a frame that is hand finished specifically to their personal taste and requirements.
Textile Framing can be for an old tapestry, a small rug, a quilt, a cross-stitch sampler, a piece of multi-media textile art or anything else fabric based. All textile pieces have their own characteristics and can be prone to stress lines or other problems if the stretching and mounting is done inappropriately. I will work with you to select the appropriate technique for the piece you want to frame.
